about

“Within This Moment” marks the return of a truly international drum n bass act, Bachelors Of Science. Formed in San Francisco featuring members born in England, USA, and New Zealand, the group connected through their love of dance music and drum n bass, and have been producing treasured tracks for over 15 years since.

Responsible for the liquid anthems “Song For Lovers” (1.6m Spotify plays), “Beats Still Own The Rhythm” (1m combined Spotify + YouTube plays) and more, this latest album - their fourth - is a 14-track journey that showcases different styles of modern DnB for the floor, old-school atmospheric drum n bass, and a healthy dose of jungle, all mixed up to tell a compelling story reflective of our current moment.

Kicking off the album is the spirited title track “Within This Moment”, featuring washed out guitars and meditative vocals to set the stage before BoS revisits the sounds of old-school atmospheric 90’s breakbeats, kicking off the journey that the album will take.

“Everytime I Do” brings things up to date with a neo-soul vibe mixed with liquid breaks, before the album takes things in a blues direction pairing up with Bristol’s Ben Soundscape along with noted singer Pat Fulgoni delivering a gutsy performance for “Different Eyes”.

“Do Right” blends both a positive message with a growling bassline and staccato drums to deliver the energy before we take a pause with the “Season of Aries”, an outtake on the meaning of music from the incomparable Aries.

“Energy”, the first single off the album, sees BoS team up for the first time with Maria Remos since their much-loved track “Morning Sun”. It’s a tune that’ll send spirits soring.

As we enter the second half of the album, the Bachelors team up with the iconic Robert Manos for the second single off the album, the vibe-ridden “If I Could”, a song about love, loss, and memories.

Keeping the vibes going on vocals is the legend Spikey Tee – one of the originators of UK hip-hop pioneers The Sindecut, and frequent collaborator with Jah Wobble – who delivers his silky smooth dnb love song “No Games” – one for the lovers.

“Stomp” – the third and final single from the album – is a song of protest, rebellion, and standing up for what’s right. It features the talents of Pat Fulgoni who delivers another standout vocal performance, and someone who has a rich history of activism in the UK.

“In The Dark” proves that the Bachelors aren’t scared to break out of their mold, as the lads turn to their darker side with a Grace Jones infused stripped back steppa, while “Far Away” takes us into the cosmos as the soaring vocals of Marianna Ray combine with big sounding reeses for a high-octane fueled belter.

Soultrain Locomotive turns the corner as he reminds us of the “Brighter Days” that are ahead of us when we channel positive energy towards a common cause.

Finally, the Bachelors close out the album with future breakbeat twist in the shape of “Won’t Turn My Back On You” – an epic emotive last tune with nods to the influences of classic acts Orbital and 808 State, and modern acts such as Bicep and Franky Wah.

All told, the album is journey about finding strength, learning about life along the way, and the rises and falls that we all go through in our lives. Here’s to life Within This Moment …

With thanks,
